The Philippian jailer received freedom from his fetters of sin when Paul and Silas praised their way from their prison chains. The promise to the jailer was "thou shalt be saved and thy house." This promise was given to him in the jail immediately following his near suicide attempt. The jailer's household was not present when Paul made the pronouncement, but the faith of this man was a perpetual power in his spirit, giving him hope and happiness for a brighter tomorrow. |
