DAY 294: Humble Yourself And Pray

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14

Have you ever sought God with your whole heart, or have you simply given Him a frail cry after some painful experience? Do you really want Him to get personally involved? Think about the repercussions. Everything in your life is tucked away in neat cubby holes: your pain, your anger, your crutches, your dirty laundry, your secret idols, or your past. Do you really want Him to dig deep into your heart and mess everything up? Are you truly ready for a change, or are you complacent and indifferent - satisfied enough with the ways things are? Have you gotten to the place where you genuinely lamented, expressing your sorrow before God for the state of your inner life? You must push past self-pity.

You must face the difficult sight of what kind of person you really are.

In that state of brutal honesty, bow before the All-Seeing God and repent. From that position, seek God with all your heart. He promised that He would certainly forgive and heal. Cry out to God for yourself, or for our nation, that He would continue to send His blessings.

"Heal our land, O Lord, and begin in my heart."
