Regardless of your political persuasion, at one time in your life, the office of the President of the United States will be occupied by someone with whom you do not agree. Any decision made, whether it be a bill that is signed into law or some military action, will have ramifications that will affect you. The President is responsible not only to the people of this nation but also the world, for the actions that are taken. It is certainly one of the reasons there are not many people who really want to be President. This application in the natural also has a spiritual parallel with a pastor and those in the church. Pastors also must make difficult decisions that not everyone may agree with. Does that mean we are to abandon the church and find a new one? No, and the second application tells us why we shouldn’t. |

The pastor is responsible not only to those in the congregation but more importantly, to God.

This is also a weighty responsibility, which keeps some out of the ministry. Understanding that those in leadership who make decisions are responsible to God should help us to submit to them.
