DAY 311: Your Advocate

"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
1 John 2:1
A couple of weeks ago we looked at a passage in Isaiah which was a courtroom scene. In that scene, God was acting as prosecuting attorney and judge. This passage here reveals to us our defense attorney.
The Greek word which is translated "advocate" in this passage in its setting represented someone's defense counsel, or if the person did not have sufficient funds for a lawyer, they would still have someone who could come plead their case before the judge.
Jesus is our defense attorney before God. The accuser of the brethren, the devil (Revelation 12:10), has attempted to accuse you before God of the sins you have committed.
You know that you are guilty and that God has the right to execute the proper punishment on your sins. But dear Christian, do not let your head hang low.
The attorney you have representing you has never lost a case to Satan, and he never will. You can stand before this judge with confidence that your attorney, the best one money cannot buy, has made a way to set you free.
"Victory in Jesus."
