DAY 310: Stir Up The Gift

"Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou shalt stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands."
2 Timothy 1:6
The verb "to stir up" in this passage is the only time it is used in the New Testament. The meaning of this verb refers to keeping a fire stoked, or at full flame. Paul is relating Timothy's gift to that of a fire, which can dwindle or even die out due to neglect. Instead, Timothy had to move forward in his gift, operating in the spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.
The Baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to John the Baptist, is a baptism in fire.
Fires will continue to burn as long as there is some type of fuel continually added to it. How are we to add fuel to our fire? Jude 20 tells us that we are to continue to build ourselves up by praying in the Holy Ghost. Let that fire that now dwells within, come out.
"Flame the fire.
