Jesus was appointed by God at the right time to come into the world (Galatians 4:4). Jesus was not only appointed by God, but was anointed by God. Jesus testifies to this when he read from Isaiah 61:1,2 saying the reading was fulfilled in their presence (Luke 4:18,21). Jesus was not only testifying to be the Son of God, the Messiah, but was stating the source of His anointing was from God. Jesus left His heavenly throne to become a man and to be obedient unto death (Philippians 2:6-11). He chose to become a man. His virgin birth was crucial, but the anointing He received for the ministry came when He was baptized in the Holy Ghost (Luke 3:21,22). God anointed Jesus with power, and He came to destroy the works of the devil. |
